Ideal dogs for protection should have an active defensive reaction, territorial instinct, courage and great physical strength. The severity of these qualities depends on the genetic potential of the puppy and its upbringing.
Caucasian Shepherd Dog
The shaggy and severe Caucasian shepherd belongs to the ancient breeds and for many centuries serves the man as an incorruptible guard of the home and sheep flocks from wolves. The appearance and character of the “Caucasians” was formed in the natural environment, but the shepherds have long been selected unpretentious and skillful wolfhounds, receiving offspring from them and ruthlessly rejecting weakened, cowardly and nervous individuals.
In the USSR, the Caucasian Shepherd Dog was widely used as a powerful and fearless guard dog. Aggressiveness and distrust of outsiders is masked by external equanimity and an average level of activity. However, in the work, the wolfhound is merciless, vigilantly tracking and rigidly suppressing any attempt to penetrate the territory entrusted to him.
Such a guard will not be afraid of a frontal attack and hard blows, using the instincts of his ancestors in the battle. Bear-like individuals with thick long hair and a stuffed undercoat that can withstand any weather, without a booth, aviary or any kind of shelter, are especially impressive. In addition, short-haired Caucasian shepherds are known, as well as a type with an intermediate coat. The traditional short cropping of ears in newborn puppies is now optional.
Central asian shepherd dog
Like the “Caucasians”, shepherd dogs from Central Asia do not have shepherd skills, but the desire to protect household goods at all costs has been perfected. Natural selection and constant fights with wolves tempered the warrior dogs, endowing them with innate vitality and fury in the fight.
Various types of Central Asian Shepherd have historically been formed, characterized by their physique growth, coat length and color. The largest and bony Turkmen alabai are most widespread. Uzbek bouribasar and Kazakh tobet are predominantly white-red in color and slightly lower in height.
Moreover, all indigenous subtypes have the greatest combat potential and such dogs are able to cope with their duties in the withering heat and severe frost. "Asians" with a sheep flock are in fact self-sufficient, since care and care on the part of the owner are minimized. As a protective measure in future fights with predators, the ears and tail are traditionally stopped for puppies.
Central Asian Shepherd Dogs are not prone to joyful emotions and violent expression of devotion to the owneras a German shepherd does, for example. These dogs are unshakable and self-confident, restrained, focused and do not voice for no reason. Moreover, any stranger - a person or an animal - who has entered the protected area will be inevitably attacked.
Impressive dimensions, a high pain threshold, powerful jaws, as well as a tendency to act decisively and independently, without waiting for a team, provided the Central Asian Shepherd Dog the glory of first-class watchmen of private houses and industrial facilities.
Russian black terrier
According to fans, the Russian Black Terriers, bred under the Soviet regime in the kennel "Red Star", combine the best qualities of the original breeds. Jumping ability, quick reaction and shaggy paws that do not fall into the snow were given to their descendant by schnauzers, energy and good trainability - Airedale terriers, fearlessness and power - Rottweilers, and gigantic sizes and a chic “fur coat” - Newfoundlands.
“Chernyshes” was called the “Stalin's dog”, since their selection was an official state order to create an easily trained and vicious service and guard breed that did not lose functionality in the most difficult climatic conditions.
These dogs are capable of serious combat with an adversary, distrustful of strangers, swift in attacks, but at the same time they are psychologically stable, smart and different from sole wolfhounds by their extraordinary devotion to the owner. In the 80-90s. XX century Russian black terriers conquered the world of cynology with their impressive appearance and excellent working qualities, earning an allegory of "black lightning".
“Chernysha” is not recommended to chain or lock in an aviary, and a thick coat requires special care, including regular combing, trimming and haircuts.
German Shepherd
The German Shepherd is a classic of official cynology, and Max von Stefanitz is considered its creator. Focusing on working qualities, he strove to get an energetic and indefatigable dog, capable of a variety of training, easy to manage and human-dependent. Since then, the breed has gained worldwide recognition, and the ideas of von Stefanitz laid down more than 130 years ago are cultivated by dog handlers and leading nurseries.
The "German" is strong in body and spirit, it is easy to motivate him in his work and fix the training result. High intelligence, attentiveness, excellent obedience and the ability to work in a team with a person allow you to get an effective bodyguard dog or prepare a puppy for service in the police and army in a short time.
Using working excitement, mobility and jumping ability, the German Shepherd is trained in various methods of attack, fighting at once against several bipedal opponents. The study of the elements of protection of the territory and accustoming to independence, develop the skills of a watchman who patrols the perimeter around the clock and responds with voice to any potential threat.
Due to its unpretentiousness and two-layer coat, the German shepherd tolerates street content well in the presence of an aviary and a warm booth, but it was not created for the fate of a banal “chain-link”. For the correct psychophysiological development of the puppy, regular walking and training is necessary.
Rottweiler
Rottweilers come from the cattle dogs of the Roman Empire and the war molosses of Assyria, named after the city of Rottweil. They used to call them “Rottweiler Metzgerhuhd” - “the butcher’s Rottweiler dog”, because the German butchers, selling cattle, hung wallets with proceeds on the neck of their loyal assistants and went to drink all night in complete confidence that the money was safe.
Today, a smooth-haired, robust Rottweiler has retained the appearance of a gladiator of the canine world and a large noble heart. Unlike loving German shepherds, these dogs are straightforward and are known as monogamous, sincerely adoring a single person with whom they have reached mutual understanding.
Despite the large size, the Rottweilers fit perfectly into the apartment interior and behave quite intelligently, not having a tendency to bark over trifles. With the proper level of socialization and proper upbringing, this is a balanced and understanding dog, confident in its abilities and friendly to others.
In the guard-guard service, rottweilers are comparable to the power of a torpedo flying to attack and knocking down. Despite the shortened front part of the skull, the grip is full and strong, and when working in the muzzle, the dog uses its paws, head and body kicks. Rottweiler can work both in tandem with a human security guard, and alone, acting as a watchman. With enclosure, protection against drafts, precipitation is necessary and a solid booth, preferably heated in case of severe frosts.
The ability to properly prioritize and adequately raise a representative of a large breed is a big job. In dealing with such a dog, laziness, sloppiness and stiffness are unacceptable, and raising a puppy in isolation and neglecting training distort the psyche.
